A Letter from Our President

AUGUST 17, 2022

Aloha AMA Hawai‘i Community,

I am honored to serve the American Marketing Association Hawai‘i as this year’s President. I am forever grateful and inspired by the AMA Hawai‘i community – our members, board members, committee volunteers, and partners – that have helped us grow and continuously provide opportunities for marketers across the state.

As marketers, we create, communicate, deliver, and exchange ideas and value. At the center of everything we do are the relationships that we foster.

This year, our theme is “Community.” The past two years have been challenging, to say the least, and while we have been able to adapt with remote working and virtual programming, our chapter is energized to reignite our community by safely bringing back in-person experiences, providing more member value, offering engagement opportunities with other local non-profits, and elevating our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) efforts. We promise to provide rich and varied opportunities for our community to network, collaborate, and build relationships with fellow professionals.

As we enter our 52nd year as a chapter, we are excited to introduce several new initiatives, such as launching a member directory and competitive job board for more opportunities to connect and develop careers. We are also continuing to elevate our DEI efforts with the support of newly added VP of DEI and Director of Community Outreach positions. Lastly, we’re excited to continue our annual Pacific Marketing Conference, designed to empower you with insights and information from leading experts in the industry.

Thank you to all of you who have continued your AMA membership throughout the years and to our new members who believe in our mission and have joined in search of a community during these times. I encourage you – in whatever way, shape, or form is right for you – to connect with us, share ideas, and help strengthen our marketing community together.

We look forward to meeting you at our next event and are proud to be the place Hawai‘i marketers call home. You can learn more about our mission and our programs by visiting www.amahawaii.org or by emailing me at megan@amahawaii.org.

Megan Tabata, President President
