What Lies Ahead for Hawaii

Where is our economy heading in 2012 and beyond? What does the state need to do to stay competitive? The American Marketing Association – Hawaii Chapter has brought together some of best thinkers in the state to discuss economic trends in tourism, energy and beyond.

Panelist include:

Jim Dator - Professor and Director of the Hawaii Research Center for Futures Studies, Department of Political Science, University of Hawaii at Manoa. Jim is also co-chair, Space and Society Department of the International Space University of Strasbourg, France.

Frank Haas - Dean of Hospitality, Business and Legal Education programs at Kapi‘olani Community College and has taught undergraduate and graduate level courses in marketing management and tourism development. Prior to joining the University, Frank served as Vice President and Director of Marketing for the Hawai‘i Tourism Authority, where he managed the state’s marketing programs for leisure, business travel, conventions, and sports.

Paul H. Brewbaker - Principal of TZ Economics, a Hawaii economics consultancy. Paul's background is in research on the Hawaii economy and financial risk analytics from an affiliation with Bank of Hawaii of more than 25 years, concluding as its Chief Economist. He is a director of the Hawaii Economic Association and currently chairs the Hawaii Council on Revenues.
